Without considering the impact on citizens, YLBHI criticizes the development of the government
ChannelNasional. The Chairperson of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) Asfinawati said there were two symptoms that were still ignored by the Indonesian government, one of which was ignoring the people's right to development. According to him, the government continues to develop without considering the impact on the community.
"There are two main symptoms that we see, one, the state ignores the community's right to development, so development is carried out without considering what the people really expect and whether the development has a meaningful impact on the community," Asfin said in a 2018 final press conference at YLBHI office, Jl Diponegoro, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Tuesday.
Asfin continued that the second neglected thing was community justice that had not been fulfilled. The recovery institution that was supposed to provide justice, Asfinawati explained, was even slow to work to solve problems faced by the community. These institutions include the police, prosecutors and courts.
"In many cases, these three institutions are actually violating the rights of the people who have been violated. For example, if someone is deprived of his land, he sues in court instead of getting his rights but instead gets nothing," he said.
"There are people who are criminalized, there are people accused of committing a criminal act by the company, for example because they are fighting for their land rights reported to the police. He later became a suspect, then became a defendant, even to convicts," Asfinawati continued.
YLBHI mentioned a total of 575 cases of rights violated by the government, 25 percent of which were rights to the court. Asfin said the rights were still the highest problem. He suggested that the judiciary continue to monitor.
"The last question is actually the most severe, it is important to do it is a matter of monitoring, because with the prevention of prevention and recovery can be done immediately," he said.
According to him, the institution must provide a guarantee of justice to the community. So that people do not hesitate to report what they have experienced, especially for minority groups.
"There are vulnerable groups such as women or disabilities who have other psychology, for example they have always been marginalized, and they do not believe that they report they will get recovery. They are afraid not to report that they will be the next victims. think like that, "he said.
